My name is Dam D. Nguyen. I was born into a big family of 11 siblings in a small village in Vietnam. I came to America in 1984 after three years in the refugee camps. After my studies in local universities and the seminary formation, I was ordained in 1993 in Saint Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh.
As a parish priest of the Pittsburgh Diocese, I have been blessed with many good, kind and holy people I have met. They inspired me. In addition to being a chaplain for the Vietnamese Catholic Community, I have been assigned to the parishes of Saint Anne in Castle Shannon, Word of God in Swissvale, Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin in White Hall, St. Stephen in Hazelwood and Sacred Heart in Emsworth. My priestly life has primarily been shaped and made by the parishioners and the people I encountered. I do not know if I mean anything to them, but they do mean a lot to me.
