I am originally from Rochester, PA, and from a family of five sisters and two brothers. I took vows as a Capuchin Franciscan 51 years ago and after graduating from the Capuchin High School and College in Herman, PA, I received my MA in Theology from the Washington Theological Union and was ordained a priest in 1972.
My ministry assignments during my 46 years as a priest have been four years at St. Joseph Parish in Hays, KS, nine years at St. Martin Parish in Baltimore, MD, six years as vocation director for the Capuchins, thirteen years in Baltimore uniting three parishes into one new parish, four years at St. Callistus Parish and working with the Capuchin Postulants in Philadelphia, and the past eight years as pastor of Our Lady of the Angels Parish.
I go by Brother John, wishing, as a Capuchin Franciscan, to be a brother to everyone; and, of course, I am also a priest and look forward to expanding the call to be a shepherd, along with Fr. Rich and Fr. Dam, to the four neighborhoods of our new Grouping – Bloomfield, Garfield, Polish Hill and Lawrenceville.
