St. Maria Goretti Parish was established on June 4, 2012. The parish was created by the merger of St. Lawrence O’Toole Parish, Garfield and Immaculate Conception-Saint Joseph Parish, Bloomfield. The merger occured as a result of extensive study over several years involving local church leadership, parishioners, diocesan officials and consultative bodies. All of the existing churches of the two former parishes will remain open and will continue to be used for worship at the present time.
St. Maria Goretti is an urban Roman Catholic faith community of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We embrace many generations that are ethnically, culturally and racially diverse.
Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we seek to share the person and message of Jesus, the Christ, through the vibrant celebration of the Word and Sacraments within our parish community and by serving the various needs of the people of our neighborhoods through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
